K. Singh was retained by the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD), as part of a team with Inspec, Inc., to provide an evaluation for design and construction services for the replacement of 13 roofs at two wastewater treatment plants (Jones Island Water Reclamation Facility and the South Shore Water Reclamation Facility).
K. Singh provided an engineering study to evaluate “green” or “blue” roofs along with the installation of solar panels. The study investigated the capacity of the roof structures to bear additional weight.
This project included review of existing data, including reports and as-built drawings for the various structures that were being analyzed.
K. Singh staff attended the Veolia training seminar and subsequently conducted site visits to visually observe the buildings.
Based on as-built drawings and the site visit, the building roof systems were analyzed to determine if they could handle additional loading from green and blue roof infrastructure. A significant part of this project consisted of plans and specifications for the roof replacement.
